In 1982, Amazônia Expeditions was founded by Captain Mo, already known in the tourism field for his expeditions that took tourists to explore the Amazonian fauna and flora more intimately.
Over the years, living so closely connected to the paths of the forest, his children developed a passion for biology, administration, and tourism. Each of them, in their respective specializations, sought to contribute to the company with their knowledge, forming an administrative team that shares a unique motto: to make the experience of Amazônia Expeditions' guests a lifelong memory.
Back in the 1970s, Moacir Fortes guided groups visiting the Amazon in small canoes. He heard from the visitors themselves that the deep desire to explore the forest and its biodiversity was inherent across different cultures. As the years went by, he started building larger vessels to carry more and more tourists along these river routes, bringing them closer to the vast Amazon rainforest.
More than 40 years have passed, numerous vessels have been built, and thousands of tourists, scholars, and curious minds have treaded the paths guided by “Seu Mô.” Tourism has grown, and so has the number of visitors, but something remains unchanged: the incredible forest continues with its mysteries to unveil, species to discover, and many others that need preservation.
The family grew up alongside the great master of canoes, cultivating a love for the forest. Moacir Fortes Junior specialized in biology, guiding groups from a young age under his father’s guidance. With over 20 years of experience, he specializes in primate-focused groups and birdwatching, having become an empirical naturalist. Isolda is also specialized in biology but chose to combine her knowledge in tourism and navigation to organize customized groups, private expeditions, and journeys for those wanting to experience the forest for the first time. By being based in the office, she bridges the connection between the navigation team and the administrative crew. Iracema, with her administrative skills, currently manages the family’s inn, Amazonia Park Suites, in Novo Airão. This city is home to the extensive Anavilhanas Archipelago and other natural attractions that make visiting the state of Amazonas even more fulfilling.

Amazônia Expeditions offers travel experiences in the Amazon region, led by individuals with profound knowledge of the Amazon rivers, its fauna, and flora.
Tour guide and company administrator; Graduated in Biology, he is fluent in English and Spanish, and has intermediate knowledge of German.
In charge of finances and administrative departments; She holds a degree in Biology, has a technical diploma in Business Administration, is fluent in English with basic knowledge of the German language.
With the opening of the new family venture, Amazonia Park Suites Inn, in the city of Novo Airão, we introduce Iracema as our inn's administrator.
